A Bit About Me
I have been teaching for 21 years; most of those have been spent in fifth grade. By the time I became a teacher, I had been in the military where I met and married my husband, had three children (all boys!) and moved across the country several times. Over the course of my career, I have earned a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction and an Education Specialist degree in academic leadership. I have been a mentor teacher, a grade level lead, a multi-classroom lead teacher and have completed hundreds of hours worth of professional developments...I have even had the opportunity to lead a few!
In addition to being a wife, mother and teacher, I am a cancer survivor. I had been out of the classroom since November 2022 and was more than ready to get back to school and the kiddos. As I started my plans for the upcoming school year, I have been reminded of lessons, projects, plans, and ideas that I've used over the years. Now, I want to share all of them with you.
Thank you for visiting The Panoramic Classroom, and I hope you read something that sparks an idea for you to use in your classroom. If you have any questions or would like to collaborate, please feel free to reach out to me.
Work Experience
2003-2004
Kindergarten – This was my first year teaching and I nearly lost all of my hair! I only taught it for one year and took the first upper elementary position I could! This is also one of the most important years of my career, as it taught me so much about teaching and children, all of which I took with me to upper elementary. I bow down to kindergarten teachers!!!
2004-Current
5th grade (and a 4-5 combo) – My happy place! Fifth grade is the perfect grade for me to teach: they are old enough to get my jokes, independent enough to include engaging projects, and they still love their teachers.
